Elvis Escobar Named Player of the Week

Bradenton, Fla. - Bradenton Marauders outfielder Elvis Escobar has been named the Florida State League Player of the Week for the week of July 11 -July 17. He went 11-for-22 with two doubles, one triple, one home run, six RBIs, and one stolen base during the period. The Marauders capitalized on Escobar's big week at the plate by taking three of four games at Dunedin and rallying for an 11-8 win against Clearwater on July 17.

Overall for the season, Escobar is batting .260 with 23 extra-base hits. He has used his speed and arm to consistently impact games defensively as well. His eight outfield assists are tops on the team.

Escobar is 21 years old and was born in La Guaira, Vargas, Venezuela. He is in his fifth season of professional baseball.
