February 5, 2015 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Rochester Lancers News Release
Midfielder Elliot Fauske has been with the Rochester Lancers since their inception in 2011. That season, the "Mohican Warrior" earned 8 points for the Lancers, mirroring the number he wears on the back of his jersey. He nearly doubled his scoring the following season with 14 total points. Last season, Fauske scored a career-high 13 goals, earning 32 points and helped raise over $10,000 for Camp Good Days & Special Times. For every goal Fauske scored, Cellino and Barnes donated $888 to the charity organization.
Fauske has not only been a key asset to the Lancers roster over the years, but has been equally notable in the community. The 33 year old from Spokane, WA has won the team's Community Service Award numerous times. He's done hundreds of community appearances and is one of the most recognizable faces spearheading the Lancers flagship school program, the Eat Right, Treat Right Challenge. When unable to play, he's even filled in to help with the media broadcasts at home and on the road.
Fans have been able to see him everywhere this year except one key place... the field.
Fauske has been on the injured reserve before the season ever began. Prior to menacing pro indoor soccer defenders with his speed and energy, Fauske worked construction. In 2008, he was holding a concrete hose, which plugged, exploded and broke three bones in his face while sending him to the hospital unconscious with a traumatic head injury. Playing outdoor soccer nine months ago, he suffered a concussion that brought back similar symptoms from 2008. For safety precautions, doctors kept him off the field ever since.
Last week, Fauske heard the news he's been waiting to hear for months. The doctors cleared him to play again. Without wasting any time, he was added to the lineup and played several shifts in Saturday's 21-12 win over Harrisburg.
"It was amazing to be on the field again. I never thought I'd be back this season, so I'm very grateful and trying to enjoy every moment," said the Lancers defender. "Don't get me wrong, the Warrior Cave is luxurious, but I don't mind occasionally venturing out to Blue Cross Arena to engage our foes in battle."
Fauske admits he's not at 100% fitness yet, but given the Lancers are headed into a bye week, it should give plenty of time for the Mohican Warrior to prepare for a dual battle with Baltimore and Harrisburg the following week. So... opponents beware because the WARRIOR IS BACK! The Lancers head into a bye week this weekend riding a 2-0 winning streak. They play their next game at undefeated Baltimore on Friday, February 13 at 7:35pm. Fans can catch the game live on http://golivesportscast.com/ or listen on 93.3 Fickle FM. The next Lancers home game at the War Memorial is on Saturday, February 14 at 1pm as they host the Harrisburg Heat. First 1,000 fans will receive Lancers Lipps, courtesy of Delta Sonic and look for a special kissing booth at the game! The RIT Pep Band will also perform throughout the game!
