
Elks Take out Gems 13-5

After taking 2 of 3 in Cowlitz County over the weekend, the Bend Elks continued their winning ways on the road by defeating the Klamath Falls gems 13 to 5 Tuesday evening at Kiger Stadium in Klamath Falls.
The Elks scored early with one run in the first, and three more in the 3rd to take a 4to 3 lead going into the bottom of the 6th. Thats when the Gems managed to score 2 runs to take a 5 to 4 lead. That changed in the top of the 8th when Brock Carpenter led things off with a solo home run to left center field to tie the game.Then, after a couple of walks and a single to load the bases for Nick Osuna blasted a grand slam home run over the center field wall giving the Elks the 9 to 5 lead.The Elks added 4 more in the top of the 9th. Louis Cohen came in the 8th and struck out 2 of the three Gems he faced to get his 3rd win in relief.
Game 2 of the 3 game series is set for 6:35 PM Wednesday evening from Kiger Stadium and can be heard at bendelks.com.
