Elks offense comes alive, beat Falcons 8-3

The Bend Elks scored 6 runs in the 6th inning to defeat the Kelowna Falcons on Tuesday by a score of 8-3.

The Elks took the lead early in the bottom of the single as Kyle Gallegos delivered a 2 run single to give the Elks an early 2-0 lead.

Kelowna responded in the top of the 3rd with 3 runs of their own as Tyler Qualls, Kyle Pearson, and Kyle Moses all delivered RBI in the inning to give Kelowna a 3-2 lead.

That score would hold until the bottom of the 6th, when the Bend Elks plated 6 runs to break the game open. Kyle Gallegos, Steven Halcomb, and Jordan Copeland all delivered RBI in the inning, giving the Elks the 8-3 lead.

5 Elks had 2 or more hits in the game, and leading the way was Jordan Copeland, the 2nd baseman from Washington State University. Copeland went 4-4 in the game with an RBI and a run to pace the Elks to their 2nd win in as many days in front of 3,133 Elks fans.

The final game of the series is set to take place Wednesday, the 4th of July beginning at 6:35 p.m. After the game, fans can watch fireworks from the outfield grass.
