The Bend Elks managed just 3 hits on Tuesday night against the Thurston County Senators, falling by a score of 5-2.
The Elks, who are finishing their season on Wednesday, got a solid start from St. Martin's University pitcher Casey Mitchell, who pitched 6 innings, giving up 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 6 in getting the no decision. The loss was charged to Ryan Shockey of Clark College, who gave up 2 runs in the 8th and 9th inning, failing to record an out in the 9th before being relieved.
Zach Close of Chemeketa had a solo Home Run for the Elks in the 5th, and Jo Carroll had the other 2 hits for Bend, who dropped the opening game of the 2 game series to conclude the 2012 season.
The Elks will conclude their season on Wednesday against the Thurston County Senators on Fan Appreciation Night. Team Apparel is 50% off while supplies last, lots of prizes will be given away, and Air Link will be flying a helicopter in for the first pitch as they celebrate local Fire, EMT, and 911 services to wrap up the Elks 2012 season.
