Elks Eliminated in 2-1 Loss

For the second night in a row the Corvallis Knights Defeated the Bend Elks by a score of 2-1. The wildcard Elks are eliminated from the championship series.
The Elks got on the board first when Grant Newton led off the 5th with a solo home run over the right field wall. The Elks managed only two more hits off Corvallis pitching for the rest of the game. Elks starter Kevin Hamann threw 6 strong innings giving up only 4 hits and no runs while striking out 5 Knights. Louis Cohen came int o relieve Hamann with 2 on and 1 out in the in the 7 before striking out the remaining Knight batters. The Elks held the 1-0 lead into the bottom of the 9th when Cohen got the first batter he faced to strike out. The next batter drove a hard ground ball to third baseman Brock Carpenter who had trouble getting the ball out of his glove then hurried the threw to first sending the ball into the screen on the first base side, allowing the runner to reach first base on the only error of the game. The DH Kevin Kline came to the plate and drove the only pitch that Cohen threw to him over the left field wall for the walk off winning 2 run home run. Cohen took the loss.
