The Bend Elks defeated he Corvallis Knights 6-3 Thursday night at Goss Stadium in Corvallis. The Elks take 2 of the three games from the Knights. The Knights got on the board first with 2 runs in the 4th, but the Elks fought back and scored 4 in the top of the 5th taking the lead and never looking back. Bend sent two more runs across the plate in the 7th. The Knights managed one more run in the 8th. Starter Kevin Hamman threw 4.2 strong innings giving up one earned run while striking out 4. Michael Bennet tossed 4 innings in relief giving up just one earned run. Louis Cohen finished the game and the Knights by retiring all 3 Knights he faced in the 9th.
Bend returns home for a 6;35 game at Genna Friday night against the Klamath Falls Game.The Elks have swpet the Gems both time they faced them this season.. The Wenatchee Applesox again beat the Kelowna Falcons in 10 innings in B.C., that along with the Elks win, maintains the Elks 1 game led over the Applesox for the wildcard spot for next weeks playoffs.
