Elisha Cuthbert Highlights A Weekend Of Free Grey Cup Festival Events

The 2009 Grey Cup Festival is pleased to announce a number of family friendly events that will be free to the public during this weekend's Grey Cup Festivities starting Friday, November 27th until Sunday, November 29th all located right in the heart of downtown Calgary.

ENMAX STREET FESTIVAL - FRIDAY TO SUNDAY

The Enmax Street Festival, the "midway" of the Grey Cup Festival located along Stephen Avenue between Olympic Plaza and 2nd Street SW, will be rocking fans with live entertainment of all genres all weekend long. Performances from Calgary's own THE DUDES happens on Friday and local Calgary entertainer Michael Bernard Fitzgerald will perform on Saturday. Activities, vendors, and interactive games will be sure to keep the CFL fan spirit alive and are all free of charge.

CALGARY HERALD OLYMPIC PLAZA FAMILY FUN FEST - FRIDAY TO SUNDAY

The Calgary Herald Olympic Plaza Family Fun Fest runs daily from 8:30am until 6pm and includes daily pancake breakfasts, BBQs, the Atlantic Schooners Maritime Kitchen and numerous exhibits and displays all for free to the public. The government of Nova Scotia has donated 4000 pounds of mussels that will be available for free to all patrons Friday afternoon at the Maritime Kitchen Party. Saturday, the NHL alumni will be facing off against the CFL alumni in a hockey match at 1:30pm featuring sports stars Lanny MacDonald, Jim Peplinski, Peter Dalla Riva, Tony Gabriel and lots more.

ENMAX ILLUMINATE CALGARY - FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

Enmax Illuminate Calgary will be the first of its kind in the City of Calgary. Street performers will be on hand to entertain as you stroll along Stephen avenue and take in unique lit up displays of some of Calgary's most historic buildings. State of the art, energy efficient lights will illuminate 20 buildings along Stephen Avenue Mall. These unique displays of contemporary light installations will run nightly from 5pm- 11 pm Friday and Saturday and is free of charge.

SCOTIABANK CFL EXPERIENCE- FRIDAY TO SUNDAY

The Scotiabank CFL experience is an engaging and interactive zone where various camp drills and games will be taught and played. Autograph signings by famous CFL stars and alumni will be available, as well as numerous sport and historical broadcast displays. This can be all experienced free of charge at the Telus Convention Centre.

SAFEWAY GREY CUP FESTIVAL PARADE- Saturday, NOVEMBER 28TH

Calgary's own Elisha Cuthbert, star of the hit TV series "24", will act as grand Marshall for the return of the Safeway Grey Cup festival parade along the streets of downtown Calgary. The route begins on 6th Ave SW at Macleod Trail SE at 11am sharp. The parade will feature over 80 entries consisting of 10 marching bands, over 100 horses, CFL cheer teams and mascots from your favourite teams as well as Paralympic and Olympic Champions. The Parade will include a performance by the CFB Moose Jaw Snowbirds.

SPORT CHEK GREY CUP FAMILY VIEWING PARTY- Sunday, NOVEMBER 29TH

The Sport Chek Grey Cup Family Viewing Party presented by TSN, the Calgary Flames and the Calgary Stampeders will be held at the Pengrowth Saddledome stadium on Sunday, November 29th with doors opening to families and CFL fans at 3pm. There will be plenty of fun, interactive and engaging activities great for children of all ages to take part in while the 97th Grey Cup Championship game plays live on the Jumbotron. Tickets are $10 per person available for purchase at all Sport Chek and Safeway locations with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank.
