August 23, 2004 - USL First Division (USL-1)
Toronto Lynx News Release
(TORONTO, ON) â The Lynx will conclude the eighth season with their last regular season home match this Thursday, August 26th at Centennial Park Stadium with a 7:30pm kickoff when they host the expansion Edmonton F.C. in Toronto for their first ever trip to Toronto. At 7:00 the Lynx will honour their finest players with their annual Lynx Player Awards presented by Soccer VIP's. Miss Toronto Tourism will be on hand to perform the ceremonial kick off while fans will be able to bid for a game-worn jersey of their favourite player at the silent auction.
With three games left on the schedule this season, Ali Gerba, has his sights set on winning the A-League scoring title. Gerba has already set a Lynx record for goals and points becoming their star striker. His thirty four points place him third in A-League scoring which is 4 points behind the league-leader, Dante Washington of Virginia Beach. Gerba's 15 goals trail Alan Gordon of Portland by only 2 goals in the scoring race. In their first A-League season, Edmonton has struggled both on and off the field. Edmonton F.C. is tied for last place in the Western Conference with a 4-15-6 record. However, one of their wins came at the expense of the Lynx when Toronto made their first ever visit to Edmonton back on July 26th. The Lynx will be looking for some revenge and a home win for their loyal supporters on Fan Appreciation Night.
