
Edwards, Boss And Hyland Earn Week 12 Honors

TULSA - Chicago offensive lineman ROBERT BOSS and Spokane defensive back ANTWAN MARSH, Tampa Bay wide receiver HANK EDWARDS, and Oklahoma City defensive back DAVID HYLAND have been named the JLS Ironmen, Russell Athletic Offensive Player and Riddell Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for Week 13 of 2010. In addition to these three awards, the AFL is also highlighting the player who makes the best Catch of the Week, the Playmaker of the Week, and the Highlight of the Week. The Cutters Catch of the Week Award for Week 13 goes to Oklahoma City wide receivers AL HUNT and CRAIG FULTON, JR. while Iowa quarterback RYAN VENA has been named the Playmaker of the Week. The Highlight of the Week award has gone to Tulsa's defensive back JAMAR RANSOM.
JLS IRONMAN OF THE WEEK
Boss (6-5, 295, Northern Michigan) had an explosive night for Chicago, breaking personal season records against Orlando. The lineman caught two touchdowns, both in the first quarter, to give Chicago the edge in the game. With four receptions for 60 yards, Boss also shattered his season-high record for single-game yardage (previously 18 yards). Marsh (6-3, 210, Pikeville) joins Boss as co-Ironman of the week after his performance against Milwaukee. Marsh rushed twice for five yards and two touchdowns in addition to returning an interception for a score. He also tallied the third most tackles for the Shock that night with three unassisted and two assisted.
RUSSELL ATHLETIC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Edwards (6-3, 185, Texas Southern) wrote himself into Tampa Bay's history books against Bossier- Shreveport in Forum Arena. Edwards ended the night with 10 receptions for three touchdowns and 209 yards, becoming the first player in the Storm's franchise history to break 200 receiving yards in a single game. The yardage also boosted Edwards to surpassing 1,000 receiving yards this season with a total of 1,166 yards, only 175 yards from tying his career-high. Additionally, Edwards returned two kicks for 57 yards and made one fumble recovery.
RIDDELL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Hyland (6-0, 198, Morehead State) dominated Dallas's offense with key plays that would ultimately lead to the Yard Dawgz's win over the Vigilantes. To start the fourth quarter, Hyland intercepted a pass by BJ Hall, leading to an offensive touchdown to narrow the teams' scores. Hyland's highlight would be the interception in the last 0:15 seconds to keep the Vigilantes from scoring and stealing the win. Hyland also had five tackles and two pass break-ups.
CUTTERS CATCH OF THE WEEK
Tommy Grady (6-7, 245, Oklahoma/ Utah) had two amazing touchdown passes, with Al Hunt (5-11, 205, Northwestern Oklahoma State) and Craig Fulton Jr. (5-10, 180, Northeastern Oklahoma State) both winning Catch of the Week. The first came in the second quarter when Hunt caught a 24-yard pass to take a 13-10 lead. The other crowd-pleaser came with just 15.4 seconds left in the game, and Grady threw another 24-yard pass to Fulton for the game winning touchdown. The Yard Dawgz would clinch the win with the final score 35-31.
NIFTY PLAYMAKER OF THE WEEK
Vena (6-1, 225, Colgate) had an impressive game in the solid home-win against Utah, utilizing his ability to make plays both in the passing and rushing game. Vena ended with three carries for 38 yards and one touchdown, which came in the final minutes of the game. He also accounted for an incredible 245 yards and seven touchdowns from 20 completions. Overall, Vena threw a 90 percent completion rate on the night. The veteran helped the Barnstormers keep their playoff dreams alive with the 68-32 victory.
SPALDING HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK
Ransom (5-11, 225, Oklahoma State) caught his fourth and most critical interception of the season against Cleveland. With a minute left in the first half, Ransom returned a 43-yard interception for a touchdown, taking the lead for Tulsa and never giving it back. Ransom also had four unassisted tackles in the home-win of 65-44 against the Gladiators.

Riddell Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: Tampa Bay's Tim McGill, Jacksonville's Jason Perry, Iowa's Derrick Byrd, Chicago's Clifton Smith Spokane's Travis Williams and Tulsa's Terrell Mingo
