Edge's Raymond Earns League Award

The leading rusher in Bloomington indoor football history has earned another league award.
Andre Raymond is the Champions Professional Indoor Football League Offensive Player of the Week as he helped lead the Bloomington Edge to its second straight victory last Saturday, a 52-43 win over the Sioux City Bandits. Raymond rushed for 100 yards with two touchdowns, averaging 6.2 yards per carry. Raymond also caught four passes for 48 yards and two more scores. He is now tied with teammate Marcus Lewis for the CPIFL lead in touchdowns with 14.
The Edge (2-4) are still alive in the playoff hunt at the halfway point of the season as they travel to Nebraska this Saturday to face the Lincoln Haymakers (2-5). The Edge lead the CPIFL in average total offense with 267.2 yards per game. Quarterback Charles Dowdell leads the league in passing with 1191 yards while completing 60.1 percent of his attempts. Marcus Lewis is the top receiver in the CPIFL with 573 yards.
The Haymakers narrowly defeated the Edge 54-50 on March 14 in Lincoln but have lost their last three games, including a 58-41 defeat at Dodge City last week. The Haymakers have the third-best total defense in the CPIFL, giving up 225 yards and 38 points per game. Travis Ribbing leads Lincoln on the ground with 248 yards. Quarterback Chuck Wright has averaged 177 yards per game through the air while completing 56.8 percent of his passes. Nick Rhodes leads Haymakers receivers with 377 yards and nine touchdowns.
