St. John's, NL - The St. John's Edge made a statement on Wednesday night in Windsor, ON. The team shot 54% from the field, as well as an impressive 54.1% from three-point range on route to defeating the Windsor Express by a score of 113-86.

The story coming into the game was the return of Maurice Jones Sr. to Windsor, where he suited up for the Express for two seasons. The 5'7" guard reclaimed his place in the WFCU Centre in downtown Windsor, ON by recording a double-double with 13 points and 15 assists to lead the Edge to their first win of this young season.

Recipients of Jones' 15 assists were often the pair of Jared Nickens, who was 7-for-10 from three-point range for 21 points on the night. Todd Brown Jr. was also on his game, shooting 5-for-9 from behind the arc for 21 points as well. The two combined for 42 of 55 points off the bench for the Edge.

Rounding out the offense tonight for the Edge were Guillaume Boucard who put up 18 points and recorded 9 rebounds. Dez Lee continued his strong defense and fell just short of another double-double recording 10 points and 9 rebounds on 50% shooting.

The Windsor Express offense could not get any consistency going in the second half against the Edge. St. John's held Windsor to 42.5% from the field and just 24% from three-point range. The big three who recorded double-double's in the Express game one loss to the Sudbury 5 were held to a combined 34 points on Wednesday night.

St. John's (1-1) will now look to continue this momentum swing as they return to the capital city on Thursday to prepare for their Home Opener against the 2-0 Moncton Magic, who are coming off two wins against the Halifax Hurricanes.

Game time is set for 7:00pm Friday night at Mile One Centre, with gates opening at 5:30pm for a pre-game performance by local talent, The Navigators.
