
Edge Swept by Green Bay with 34-21 Loss

Bloomington, IL - The Bloomington Edge, presented by Heller Stores, fell to the Green Bay Blizzard for the second straight week with their 34-21 loss at home Saturday night. It was the first time this season that Bloomington has lost back to back games. Dusty Burk made 16 of 38 completions. He threw for 117 yards and one touchdown pass. Burk was intercepted 6 times in the game. He had 6 interceptions on the season coming into the game. Charles Dowdell had 58 receiving yards and caught a touchdown pass. Andre Raymond rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown. The Edge are now 7-3 on the season.
The 1st quarter was low scoring. The only score was a 15 yard touchdown pass from Dusty Burk to Charles Dowdell. Both teams missed a field goal. The defense was on display for both sides as it was kept at 7-0 at the end of the quarter.
With the Blizzard driving towards a potential score to start the 2nd, James Temple came up with a big interception for the Edge in the endzone to keep Green Bay off the board. The interception tied Temple's own single season record. But on the resulting drive the Edge were intercepted and it was ran back for a touchdown to tie the game. After the error, Dusty Burk corrected himself with a quarterback sneak for a touchdown. Green Bay threw a touchdown pass then got the ball back by holding the Edge on defense. The Blizzard ended the half by kicking a 42 yard field goal. Green Bay led 17-14 at halftime.
Green Bay started the 3rd with a quarterback-keeper for a touchdown to stretch Green Bay's lead to 24-14. The Blizzard also missed a 42 yard field goal attempt. Like the opening quarter the one touchdown would be the only scoring of the quarter.
The Edge got a big fourth down stand to start the 4th quarter. On the resulting drive Andre Raymond rushed one yard for the touchdown. He is one rush touchdown from tying the Edge/Extreme single-season rush TD record. He set that record last season. The Blizzard responded on the next drive by throwing a touchdown and followed a short time later with a 32 yard field goal.
After this week the Edge only have four regular season games left. That will start on May 18 when the Edge travel to Cedar Rapids to play the Titans. The two teams will only meet one other time this season when the play in Bloomington on the last week of the regular season.
