Bloomington Edge News Release

The Bloomington Edge, presented by Heller Stores, have added to the pre-season roster with talent that includes National Football League experience.

Among the latest signings announced by the Edge are defensive back Josh Morris, lineman Josh Coyle, defensive end Ryan Jenkins and quarterback Jim DuPage.

Josh Morriswas signed as a free agent in 2010 by the Philadelphia Eagles after concluding his collegiate career at Weber State, where he was named to the Big Sky Conference first team in 2008 and 2009. He was an All-American first teamer in 2009 after receiving honorable mention All-American status in the previous season.

"Josh is a ball-hawking playmaker who can play wall to wall," said Edge head coach Kenton Carr about Morris. "We are fortunate to get a player like this and are looking forward to having him in camp."

Ryan Jenkinswas a four-year standout at Illinois Wesleyan University, receiving All-American first team status on the Division III squad named by the American Football Coaches Association in 2011. Jenkins was a two-time first teamer on the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and was named the Titans' defensive MVP in 2011 and voted IWU's best lineman three times.

"Ryan was very close to playing with us last year but we felt he was a little too light," said Carr. "He has gained about 20 pounds in the offseason and is ready to go. He is very quick and a true speed rusher who can cause problems for quarterbacks."

Jim DuPagereturns to Bloomington indoor football after helping the team reach the championship game in 2008. DuPage quarterbacked St. Ambrose University from 2004 through 2007, and was named Mid-States Football Association-Midwest Player of the Year in his final season after earning second team conference honors in the previous campaign.

"Jim has a very strong arm and has that 'it' factor," said Carr. "He was an outstanding quarterback at St. Ambrose and it won't take him long to shake off any rust."

Josh Coyleplayed four seasons at Quincy University, earning an all-conference nod at right guard in 2008 and again at left tackle in 2009. He has played indoors in the three years since graduation including time in the Arena Football League.

"Josh is new to the Edge but has good indoor experience," said Carr. "The nice thing is that Josh can play center and also defense, and he could be a good swing player for us."

The Edge begin play in the new Champions Professional Indoor Football League on March 15 at U.S. Cellular Coliseum against the Sioux City Bandits. Season tickets for the six home games are now available by calling 309-TC SPORT (827-7678).
