St. John's Edge News Release

St. John's, NL - The St. John's Edge announced on Friday morning that Olu Ashaolu has been placed on the Injured Reserve and will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2018-19 season after suffering a knee injury in Game 1 of the NBL Canada Finals on Wednesday night in Moncton, NB.

During the third quarter, Murphy Burnatowski was fouled by a Moncton Magic defender and hit the floor colliding with Olu's right knee. After several minutes on the floor, Ashaolu was removed by the training staff unable to put much weight on the knee.

He remained out of action for the rest of Game 1 and was re-evaluated over the last 48 hours and it was determined that, due to the injury, he would be placed on the injured reserve.

Ashaolu will remain with the team for the rest of the Finals and will receive treatment and evaluation during that time. The organization wish Olu the best in his recovery and hope to see him back in action in the future.
