The Bloomington Edge, presented by Heller Stores, have bolstered their offense by signing a top quarterback and and two top wide receivers.
David Knighton was the starting quarterback for the IFL's Colorado Ice for most of the last three seasons, completing about 60 percent of his passes. Last season he threw for 1,334 yards with 30 touchdowns and only five interceptions in nine games with the ice. He also completed 67 percent of his passes in three games last season with the IFL's Allen Wranglers, throwing for 545 yards with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions. He was the IFL's Most Improved Player Award winner in 2011 after completing 43 touchdown connections with a total of 2,188 yards passing. He was a four-year starter at Harding University where he threw for 9,945 yards. He stands 6-1 and weighs 220 pounds and is a native of Seminole, Oklahoma where he led his high school team to three state championship appearances. He was invited to the Minnesota Vikings camp in 2009.
"We are so happy to have a dual-threat quarterback who can hurt you with his legs and arm," said Edge head coach Kenton Carr about Knighton. "He brings great indoor experience and we think we can win a championship with a guy like this. He is very smart and elusive on the field. There is a reason he was in the Vikings camp at one time. He will be exciting to watch."
Jasonus (JAY-suh-nus) Tillery is an indoor football veteran and a past IFL Offensive Rookie of the Year while playing with the Wyoming Cavalry. Tillery stands six feet tall and weighs 215 pounds. He was invited to the Kansas City Chiefs mini-camp in 2006. Tillery is a native of Casper, Wyoming.
"This guy is a game-changer," said Carr about Tillery. "He has great speed and tremendous hands. We are so excited about having an experienced wide receiver who can totally take over a game. He should be playing at the next level for sure."
Abrielle (AY-bree-ell) Taylor was a standout wide receiver and kick returner at Lake Erie College and has played indoor football since the conclusion of his college career. Taylor stands 6-5 and weighs 225 pounds and is a native of Cleveland, Ohio where he was Rookie of the Year while with the semi-pro North Coast Vikings.
"Abe can flat out fly," said Carr. "This guy is a big target who can make plays and cause problems for defenses. We are happy to have a guy like this who works hard and is passionate about the game. I know our quarterbacks will be excited to throw to both of these guys."
