Edge Get Rematch with Chicago Slaughter Saturday

Bloomington, IL, 3/1/12 - The Bloomington Edge, presented by Heller Stores, will square off with the Chicago Slaughter at home on Saturday March 3 at 7:05 pm. The game is the second of four between the two teams. The Edge lost their season opener at Chicago 50-34 on Feb. 19. The Edge kept it close, but a 24 point 2nd quarter for Chicago was the difference. Both teams are 1-1 coming into their third week of play.
Last week the Edge won their home opener 54-40 over the Reading Express. The Edge came out with three scores in the opening quarter. Reading stayed in the game with three scores in the 2nd, but Bloomington kept the offense coming in the 3rd. The final quarter was fairly quiet with only one score for each team. Dusty Burk had 13 completions on 27 attempts and threw 3 touchdown passes. John Cooper had 60 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. Andre Raymond ran for 62 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Chicago fell 30-28 at home to the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks on Feb. 24. Chicago led 14-10 coming out of the 1st quarter but then the Steelhawks came back with 14 of their own and only allowed 7 in the 2nd. At the half Lehigh Valley led 24-21. The Steelhawks added 6 more in the 3rd while not allowing any points. Chicago scored a touchdown in the 4th and didn't allow any points, but it was not enough to finish a comeback. Juice Williams only had one completion on 4 attempts for 6 yards. Perry Patterson had 18 completions on 35 attempts for 205 yards. Ernest Jackson caught 3 touchdown passes on 7 receptions and had 86 receiving yards.
The Edge are on the road on March 11 at they take on the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks. The Steelhawks are 1-0 on the season.
