Bloomington Edge News Release

In a back and forth battle the Bloomington Edge could not hold it together, as the Sioux City Bandits come away with the 48-36 victory in their final Champions Professional Indoor Football League regular season game.

Sioux City came hard with the rush attack early and often as John Bentley would open up the scoring with a 2-yard rushing touchdown to take the early 7-0 lead.

Quick to answer were the Edge after Andre Brown would connect with LaVaughn Macon for a 28-yard strike on their very fist offensive play from scrimmage.

Following a Josh Morris interception, Brown and Macon would connect again, this time from 39-yards out to give the Edge the 14-7 advantage.

The Bandits would put together back to back scoring drives with Scott Jensen finding Andre London for a 13-yard score and an 8-yard quarterback scramble, taking a 28-7 lead.

With 38 seconds left in the half Raymond would get a 6-yard reception from Brown to cut into the Bandit lead, trailing 28-23 at the whistle.

The Edge defense would continue to struggle to hold the Bandits' rushing attack in check as Bentley would get his second score of the game of a 7-yard run in the 3rd quarter. Bentley would finish the game with 193 rushing yards with 3 touchdowns.

With an attempt at a late push Raymond would score on a 4-yard touchdown run making it a 38-36 game and give Raymond a Bloomington Edge record for most rushing touchdowns in a single season.

After a 27-yard field goal by Max Martin, Bentley would put the game away with a 2-yard rushing touchdown and secure the number one seed in the playoffs for the Bandits.

The Edge were looking to end the season with back to back wins and secure a .500 record, but instead finish the season with a 5-7 record.
