
Edge Drop Opener to Magic

St. John's, NL - The St. John's Edge dropped their first of two weekend meetings with the Moncton Magic on Friday night by a score of 95-91 at Mile One Centre. In front of a crowd of 6,080 fans the Edge battled until the very end coming as close as 2-points from tying it within the last minute.
The Edge were bolstered by the return of Carl English to the lineup. Putting up 11 points and 5 assists over 32 minutes was a welcomed sight as he works back to full game shape. Again, the scoring would come from familiar faces contributing on the offensive end, with Maurice Jones Sr. putting up a game high 17 points and Todd Brown Jr. continuing his impressive scoring by scoring 16 off the bench tonight.
The Edge were able to almost mirror the Magic in every statistical category, but the back breaker for the St. John's Edge in the end was in the paint. The Moncton Magic scored 56 of their 95 points in the paint, compared to the Edge 32 points in the paint.
Moncton were led by Billy White who score a game high 21 points with 8 rebounds, with Isaiah Tate contributing a solid 17 points off the bench.
St. John's (1-2) welcome back the Magic on Sunday afternoon in a 3:30pm match up that will surely be a heated affair after both teams exchanged some physical play in from of an impressive crowd at Mile One Centre.
