FC Edmonton News Release

Edmonton, AB (October 17, 2013) - FC Edmonton will look to avenge a Week 11 loss to the San Antonio Scorpions as they travel to New York to take on the Cosmos on October 20th.

FCE comes into Sunday's match sitting in seventh place, three points back of the sixth place Fort Lauderdale Strikers. With a win the Eddies can begin their trek to close out the season on a positive note.

"The Cosmos are the top team in the league right now so we'll have to be at our best if we expect to get a result," FCE coach Colin Miller said. "We are going there to hopefully spoil their party."

This will be the first time in 29 years a Canadian club has travelled to New York to play. The Eddies will be looking to their offence to surge them to victory. Solid play from Corey Hertzog and Daryl Fordyce will be called upon to produce some of FCE's offensive opportunities. FCE will also be relying on support from their strong midfield and defence to chip in on scoring chances.

At the other end of the pitch, the league-leading Cosmos can clinch their first NASL Soccer Bowl berth since they last played for a championship in 1982.

"Edmonton definitely wants to come at us one hundred percent and take three points off us, especially coming off a loss," said Cosmos coach Giovanni Savarese. "We need to be prepared and the players will be. This is our last day at home. It is going to be a special day for us and for our fans."

Kickoff is 2pm MT at James M. Shuart Stadium in Uniondale, New York. Don't miss a minute of the action and join us at the Pint Off Whyte for the official viewing party.
