Match Preview vs. Ottawa Fury FC

FC Edmonton returns to Amway Canadian Championship (ACC) action on Wednesday, May 11 when they host Canadian rivals Ottawa Fury FC, 7:00 p.m. MT, at Clarke Field. The Eddies advanced to the 2015 tournament semi-final against the Whitecaps after winning 6-2 on aggregate over the Fury.

The Eddies host the ACC preliminary round's first-leg and will be looking to gain an advantage before returning to Ottawa for the second-leg on Wednesday, May 18 at TD Place in Ottawa. The team with the highest aggregate through the two-leg preliminary round moves on to face Major League Soccer's (MLS) Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the tournament semifinals.

Ottawa Fury enter Wednesday's match with momentum to what has otherwise been a slow start to the 2016 North American Soccer League (NASL) season. Since falling to the Eddies at the end of April, the Fury have gone on a two game unbeaten streak. The Fury registered a 2-0 victory over Miami FC, securing their first win of the season. Timbo opened scoring on the day for the Fury before Dennis Chin scored deep into stoppage time to secure all three points for Ottawa. Ottawa then showed a display of resilience coming back from a goal down on two occasions to salvage a 2-2 draw against Minnesota United FC.

FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller will be delighted with his team's play of late. The Eddies have claimed seven points out of a possible nine in their last three matches. Their recent two-game road-trip saw the Eddies defeat Jacksonville Armada FC thanks to Pape Diakite's lone-goal. The squad then continued their quick road trip, facing Indy Eleven just three days later. Eddies forward Jake Keegan notched his second goal of the season in a 1-1 draw.

"It's an exciting time" Miller said of Wednesday's match. "The players are excited about it. We had a good session this morning...we'll have some decisions to make for Wednesday night because there are several players available for selection."

FC Edmonton kicks off the 2016 Amway Canadian Championship, Wednesday, May 11 against Canadian rival Ottawa Fury FC at Clarke Field. Kick off in the match is set for 7:00 p.m. The match will be streamed live on www.canadasoccer.com.
