Rochester Knighthawks News Release
(Rochester, NY)... The National Lacrosse League has announced the coaches that will lead the East and West Division teams in the 2006 All-Star Game. The East Division All-Stars will be coached by Rochester Knighthawks Head Coach Ed Comeau. Comeau will be assisted by Philadelphia Wings Head Coach Lindsay Sanderson.
The 2006 All-Star Game will be played on Saturday, February 25th at 4:00 p.m. at the Air Canada Centre, home of the Toronto Rock. The West Division All-Stars will be coached by Arizona Sting Head Coach Bob Hamley. Hamley will be assisted by Calgary Roughnecks Head Coach Chris Hall.
For the second year in a row, the East Division All-Stars will be coached by the Rochester Knighthawks head coach. This season Comeau, who is in his first year as head coach for Rochester, will take the honors after leading the Knighthawks to an East Division best 4-1 record to start the season. Last season, Paul Day earned the honors and coached the East Division All-Stars to an 11-10 overtime victory in the 2005 All-Star Game. Comeau will make his first appearance as an All-Star Game head coach. He is currently on a four-game winning streak as the Knighthawks head into Week Seven.
Sanderson will serve as an assistant coach for the East Division All-Star team after leading the club to a 3-1 record to start the season. The Wings are currently second in the East Division behind Rochester.
The West Division All-Stars will be coached by Hamley. The Sting guaranteed his spot on the West Division bench by securing a division-best 3-1 record. Hamley, the league's 2005 Head Coach and General Manager of the Year, will serve as a head coach in an All-Star Game for the first time. Calgary Roughnecks Head Coach Chris Hall will serve as the assistant coach for the West Division. Hall has led the Roughnecks to a 3-3 record.
Fan balloting for the 2006 All-Star Game is underway at NLL.com and will remain open until February 8th at 5:00 p.m. Fans are able to select a starting lineup for the East and West teams consisting of three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender.
