December 9, 2008 - Eastern Professional Hockey League (EPHL) News Release
The Brooklyn Aces remain on top of the Eastern Professional Hockey League standings with an outstanding early record of 9-1-0. The Aces have won seven in a row. The battle for second place got a bit closer last week as the Danbury Mad Hatters (3-4-1) have closed to within three points of the Jersey Rockhoppers (5-4-0). The Hudson Valley Bears, although it hasn't shown on the scoreboard, has played much better of late.
Last Week in Review
Brooklyn won their seventh in a row with a 6-3 victory over Jersey on Saturday (12/6). Jersey went 1-1 for the week with a 5-2 win against Hudson Valley on Friday (12/5) coupled with their loss to the Aces. Danbury defeated Hudson Valley 4-3 on Saturday night to improve to 2-0-1 in their last three games.

EPHL Player of the Week
The Jersey Rockhoppers Chris Ferazzoli has been named the Eastern Professional Hockey League Player of the Week. Ferazzoli scored two goals and added two assists as the Rockhoppers split two games last week. The Floral Park, NY native has scored six goals and eight assists for fourteen points in nine games this season. Chris is sixth in the EPHL in scoring. He played college hockey at the University of Delaware and has previously seen action in the CHL & ECHL with Youngstown, Elmira, and Cincinnati.
EPHL Goaltender of the Week
Brooklyn, NY native Miroslav Recicar is the Eastern Professional Hockey League Goaltender of the Week. "Miro" led the first place Brooklyn Aces past Jersey 6-3 last Saturday night, stopping 32 of the 35 shots he faced. On the year, Recicar has posted a 5-0-0 record with a 3.40 goals against average with an 89.2% save percentage.
EPHL Notes
The Eastern Professional Hockey League Office has handed down the punishment to the Brooklyn Aces and Danbury Mad Hatters as a result of the "extra curricular" activities that took place during the November 29th game in Danbury, Connecticut. Danbury Head Coach Dave MacIsaac received a two game suspension and an undisclosed monetary fine as a result of his actions during the game. MacIssac has already served the first game of his suspension last Saturday (12/6) and will also sit out this coming Thursday's game (12/11) in Danbury vs. Jersey. Mad Hatters General Manager Brendan Tedstone was behind the bench last Saturday and injured defenseman Eric Lind is expected to run the team this Thursday......Brooklyn Aces Head Coach Chris Firriolo and forward Chad Wilcox both received undisclosed monetary fines as a result of their actions in the game.....The Aces "big three", James Brannigan (16g-8a-24pts), Kyle McCullough (6g-15a-21pts), and CJ Tozzo (8g-11a-19pts) are the top three scorers in the EPHL. Brannigan played three years at Colorado College before beginning his professional career in Augusta & Columbia (ECHL).....although he came up on the short end of two games last week; Hudson Valley goaltender Len DiCostanzo faced 107 shots on goal, including 60 shots against Danbury on Saturday night. In the two games he stopped 98 of the 107 shots for a 91.6% save percentage.
