Eastern League Weekly Award Winners Announced for June 13-June 19

PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of June 13th through June 19th:

Erie SeaWolves first baseman/designated hitter Dean Green has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of June 13th-June 19th. The 26-year old batted .438 (7-for-16) with three home runs, 12 RBIs, three runs scored and a 1.000 slugging percentage in four games for the SeaWolves last week. Green, who is a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, hit a home run in each of the first three games he played in during the week and drove in multiple runs in each of the four games he played in, including going 3-for-5 with a homer and five RBIs in a 9-5 win at Akron on Tuesday. Green was promoted to Triple-A Toledo on Saturday and continued his hot hitting, going 3-for-7 in a pair of games. At the time of his promotion Green was hitting .286 with 16 home runs and a league-high 72 RBIs in 69 games for the SeaWolves. The 6'4", 255 lb. slugger led all Eastern League players in RBIs (12), home runs (3), slugging percentage (1.000) and OPS (1.444) last week. He also ranked among the weekly leaders in total bases (16-tied 3rd), batting average (.438-5th) and extra-base hits (3-tied 8th). Dean, who also won the Player of the Week Award earlier this season for the period of April 25th-May 1st, was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 11th round of the 2011 draft out of Barry University.

Tyler Mapes, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Harrisburg Senators, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of June 13th-June 19th. The 6'2", 205 lb. hurler started one game for the Senators last week and had a record of 1-0 with four strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA. Mapes, who is a native of Plano, Texas, made his lone appearance of the week on Wednesday night at Trenton and pitched his first career complete game in Harrisburg's 1-0 victory over the Thunder. He allowed just five baserunners on three singles, one walk and one hit batter, while striking out four over nine innings. With his performance last week Mapes improved his record to 6-4 on the season and lowered his ERA to 2.90, which ranks ninth in the league. He also currently ranks second in the league in WHIP (1.05) and fourth in batting average against (.223). The 24-year old tied for the league lead in ERA (0.00), complete games (1) and shutouts (1) last week and also ranked among the weekly league leaders in WHIP (0.44-2nd), wins (1-tied 2nd) and batting average against (.103-4th). Tyler was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 30th round of the 2014 draft after going 5-5 with a 2.20 ERA in 13 starts during his senior season at Tulane University.
