PORTLAND, March 10, 2007 - In Portland's first-ever professional All-Star event, the Eastern Division defeated the Western Division 20-16 in front of 12,856 fans tonight at the 2007 National Lacrosse League (NLL) All-Star Game. Buffalo Bandits transition player Mark Steenhuis took home the night's Most Valuable Player award for his six goal-one assist performance. The LumberJax own Ryan Powell led the Western Division All-Stars in goals with four, while Colorado's Gavin Prout earned eight points on three goals and five assists.

"I really tried to soak everything in from this weekend," Steenhuis told the media during the postgame press conference. "I really enjoyed getting the opportunity to go out on the floor and play in front of the fans tonight. It was definitely one of my favorite things."

"I thought that the Portland LumberJax organization did a great job of welcoming us to this beautiful city, from the moment we got to the airport up until this moment," said Eastern All-Star John Tavares (4G). "Everything was top-class, and when we get treated this well, we want to make sure we perform to our ability. When we see a lot of people in the seats, we want to give them a good reason to come back."

After a welcoming by NLL Commissioner Jim Jennings and LumberJax owner Angela Batinovich, the All-Star Game was underway. The Eastern Division took control of the game with the first two goals of the night coming from Buffalo's Tavares (0:29) and Steenhuis (1:05).
