East Kentucky Miners News Release

PIKEVILLE, KY. - Training Camp 2008 got underway Wednesday morning for the East Kentucky Miners professional basketball team. East Kentucky, under the guidance of head coach Kevin Keathley, conducted a pair of practices on the first day of the franchise's second-ever training camp. The Miners organization is heading into its second season in the CBA (Continental Basketball Association). East Kentucky posted a 26-22 regular-season record during its debut campaign. The Miners also reached the CBA Playoffs. East Kentucky spent the offseason preparing for what promises to be an exciting 2008-09 season. Eleven players were in the Miners training camp when the second of two practices finished Wednesday night at Pikeville College.

"Overall, the first day of training camp went well," Keathley commented. "Two guys that we had planned to bring in signed overseas, so we don't have as many in camp that we had hoped to have at this point. We still want to shore up the post. We'll be ready Dec. 14 when Minot comes to town."

The following players are in the Miners training camp: Wayne Turner, Jason McLeish, Mike Crain, Mike Dean, Galen Young, Jermaine Blackburn, Alonzo Hird, Emmanuel Little, Joe Buck, Will Holloman and Justin Taylor.

East Kentucky will host Minot in a home game Dec. 14 at the East Kentucky Expo Center. Tip-off for the East Kentucky-Minot game is slated for 4:05 p.m. Tickets for the game remain available. For more information on tickets, call the Miners office at 606/437-9715.
