East Kentucky Energy News Release
Pikeville, KY. The ABA East Kentucky Energy signed the 2009-2010 ABA Defensive Player of the year as an advisor/shooting guard. Daniel "DP" Price, owner of the Mississippi Blues, racked up awards last season being named a Western Conference All-Star, All-ABA Honorable Mention, Southeast Division Player of the Month (Jan) and Defensive Player of the Year. "I am very grateful for the awards and recognition of my play, but none of them mean more to me than the DPOY," said Price. "It even has my initials at the beginning of it. I have always been a defensive-minded person. I watched players like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Bruce Bowen and Joe Dumars against Jordan and picked up little pointers from them and watched how they faced scorers. People call me DP because they think it's because of my name, but it is for Defensive Player. Everywhere I have played, I have averaged at least 3 steals and game and will guard the best player on the opposing team."
"DP looks to repeat as the ABA's Defensive Player of the Year," added Tommy Hamilton, co-owner of the East Kentucky Energy. "He has set a goal to have 100+ steals on the season, something he has done before in college and the pros. I've never seen it done and I look forward to it."
