May 4, 2012 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
San Jose Earthquakes News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The first-place San Jose Earthquakes conclude a stretch of three games in eight days this Saturday, May 5, on the road at Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Kickoff at BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, is scheduled for 4 p.m. PT. The match will air live on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, 1590 KLIV (English) and 1370 KZSF (Spanish).

The Earthquakes (7-1-1, 22 pts.) are off to their best nine-game start in club history and sit alone atop the MLS Western Conference standings. Vancouver (4-2-2, 14 pts.) is in fourth-place in the West race, and has posted shutouts in six of its eight league matches this year.

The Quakes are unbeaten over their last seven (6-0-1) games, the longest active streak in MLS, and the longest such run for San Jose since a nine-game stretch (4-0-5) in 2008. They lead MLS in both goals scored (20) and assists (23), and are also off to their best nine-game start defensively with only nine goals allowed.

Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski leads the Budweiser Golden Boot race with 10 goals and boasts the longest active streak in MLS of games with either a goal or an assist at a career-best seven.
