June 12, 2002 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Indianapolis Ice News Release
INDIANAPOLIS, INâThe Indianapolis Ice just concluded its first ever Season Ticket Early Renewal Rewards Program and handed out various prizes to a plethora of deserving season ticket holders.
The program was instituted this season to reward season ticket holders for their loyalty and dedication to the franchise. To qualify, each season ticket holder had to remit full payment by Friday, May 31st, 2002.
Some of the more unique prizes included a trip for two to an away game on the team bus, a period behind the team bench as an assistant coach for a game, radio commentary and P.A. announcer for a game and an opportunity to practice with the team in full hockey gear.
"The idea of an early renewal incentive is not new, what we wanted to do was give it a fresh twist, " said Ice General Manager Larry Linde. "We wanted to offer our season ticket holders something unique, something they couldn't purchase and something that was exclusive to being a season ticket holder. Our season ticket holders are our biggest fans and what fan wouldn't want to be coach for a game...or practice with the team...or handle the radio broadcast or public address announcing?"
Other prizes included a trip for two to see an NHL game with airfare, hotel and tickets all included, the use of a suite at one of the teams' games at the Conseco Fieldhouse, four tickets to a Chicago Cubs game and a weekend stay at a Bed and Breakfast establishment run by Ice forward Casey Harris in Port Huron, Michigan.
More than 65 season ticket account holders were winners in the initial year of the program. Jeff Franciski of Fishers, IN was the winner of the NHL trip while Boyer Machine & Tool Company of Indianapolis took home the suite at the Fieldhouse.
"It really didn't hit me until a little later, " said Franciski. All I have to say is that it is pretty cool and thank you Indianapolis Ice."
"That prize is definitely the best one for us to win, " said Jeni Wilson, representing Boyer Machine & Tool Company. "We can include many more people that way."
Based on the overwhelming response to the program, the Ice is currently developing a similar program for all new season ticket purchases.
