
Eagles Scream Past Maineiacs

LEWISTON, ME -- The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles used a strong second period to defeat the Lewiston MAINEiacs 3-1 Sunday afternoon at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.
After a scoreless first period, Samuel Henley scored his second goal of the season at 6:07 to put the MAINEiacs up 1-0. About ten minutes later, the Eagles fought back with a goal from Brad Cuzner which evened the score at 1-1. With 16 seconds remaining in the second, the Eagles scored the eventual game-winning goal off the stick of Francis Meilleur giving Cape Breton a 2-1 lead.
The Eagles scored the lone goal in the third period at 15:40. Nick MacNeil scored his 20th goal of the season, by sliding the puck past Lewiston net minder Tyler Piercy, who started his first QMJHL game. The Eagles held on to take the game by a 3-1 score.
The MAINEiacs are back on the road Wednesday, when they take on Gatineau at 7:30 p.m. The next MAINEiacs home game is Monday December 28. To purchase tickets call the Colisee box office at (207) 783-2009.
