Eagles Look to Gain More Points to Push Them into the Postseason

Charlotte NC - The Charlotte Eagles return home this Saturday July 26th to face off against the Wilmington Hammerheads at Queens Sports Complex. The Eagles currently sit at 9th place in USL PRO standings while Wilmington sits in 6th leading the Eagles by a difference of four points. The Eagles are within one place of playoffs with eight regular season games remaining for them to make to push to extend their season.

In the Eagles last game they faced off against the Dayton Dutch Lions on the road and earned a 2-1 win thanks to goals from David Estrada and Darren Toby, giving Toby his first goal of the regular season. Estrada, a new addition to the Eagles, was recently loaned to the team from Seattle Sounders. The goal for Dayton came from Matt Walker, he currently has two goals in the season so far.

The Hammerheads will travel to Arizona tomorrow night before making the trip to Charlotte to face the Eagles. In their last match previous to Friday nights game against Arizona they faced off against the Rochester Rhinos in which they took a 1-0 victory. The goal for the Hammerheads came from Jordan Hamilton who currently sits in second place on the team for points with 12 points coming from five goals and two assists.

The two teams last met when Wilmington traveled to Charlotte and the Hammerheads took a 2-1 victory. The Hammerheads two goals came from Manu Aparicio and Steven Miller, while Drew Yates recorded the sole goal for the Eagles. Saturday's match will mark the third and last of the two teams regular season matchups.
