Eagles Look to Continue Their Winning Ways at Home against Jr. Blues

The Soo Eagles, winners of four straight games, look to continue their momentum and playoff push, as they will host the Springfield Jr. Blues for three games at Pullar Stadium, Thursday at 7 p.m., Friday at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday at 7 p.m.

This weekend will see plenty of special events going on at the Pullar.

Thursday night will be "Fan Appreciation Night", as hot dogs, popcorn, and soda pop will be available for only $1.00 each. The Eagles will also honor Abby Roque, a junior forward for the Sault High Blue Devils, and part of the Gold Medal Winning United States Under-18 women's squad.

Friday night is "Mascot Night" featuring area businesses and school's, and of course, Eddie the Eagle. They will do battle on the ice, during one of the intermissions. Aaron's will have a mascot there, and will also be holding another giveaway. The Eagles will also be honoring the Soo AAA Midget Indians, who won their State-Play In's last weekend, and will be going to the State tournament in March.

Saturday night the Soo Eagle's will be having their very popular Student of the Month presentations between periods, honoring area youth, achieving great things in the classroom.

The Eagles are coming off a home sweep of the Michigan Warriors last weekend, propelling them back into a second place tie, in the North Division, while Springfield was swept by the red hot North Division regular season champion, Janesville Jets.

The Eagles are led in scoring by Sandis Zolmanis, who has 13 goals and 32 assists this season. Trevor Cope has 18 goals and 24 assists, while Keegan Miller is (16-21- 37).

The Jr. Blues are led in scoring Joshua Lammon, who has 10 goals and 12 assists this season. Former Soo Eagle, Michael Crowley has six goals and 13 assists, while Lester Lancaster is 2-19- 21).

Chad Catt is a perfect 4-0-0-0, since being acquired from the Aberdeen Wings, and has a goals against average 1.72 and a save percentage of .941 on the season for the Soo Eagles. Jack Berry is 12-10-0-1, with a goals against average of 3.05 and a save percentage of .901.

Dryden McKay is 12-14-2-0 on the season for the Springfield Jr. Blues, with a goals against average of 2.80 and a save percentage of .917. Niko Della Maggorie is 7-8-1-2, with a goals against average of 2.69 and a save percentage of .918.
