Charlotte Eagles News Release
(Charlotte, NC) - The Charlotte Eagles "Restart" the 2008 season on Friday night, April 25th with their move to Restart Field at Charlotte Christian School. Charlotte opened the season last Saturday night at UNC Charlotte with an impressive 6-0 win over the Bermuda Hogges. On Friday night, the Eagles play host to the always talented Richmond Kickers, with kickoff slated for 7:00 pm.
There's no doubt that Friday night's game will be an exciting one. The Charlotte Eagles have always seemed to have trouble against Richmond. In 2006 the Kickers defeated the Eagles by one goal in the USL-2 National Championship and then last season Richmond put an end to the Eagles run at the championship in the semi-finals. This season the Eagles have lost their veteran big man up top, Jacob Coggins, who moved up to the USL-1 to play with the Railhawks, but the Eagles have a slew of new players for 2008 including a star forward from Richmond, Robert Ssejjemba.
Charlotte's move to Charlotte Christian will also have an impact on play this season. The artificial turf will make for a very fast-paced game, and the added width of the field over Waddell Stadium, where the Eagles played in 2008, will allow for the kind of pretty soccer coach Mark Steffens likes to see.
Tickets for the Charlotte Eagles games can be purchased at the gate for just $10 for adults, $7 for students (age 5 and under free). Fans can save $2.00 on each ticket by purchasing in advance (prior to midnight the day before the game) online at www.CharlotteEagles.com. Season Tickets are the best way to save during the 2008 season! Stadium Information
Restart Field is located in the stadium at Charlotte Christian School on Sardis Road (7301 Sardis Road) in south Charlotte. Below is an aerial image of the facility. There are three main parking lots and three gates to the stadium, a north gate, a west gate and south gate. Fans who would like to purchase season tickets or need to pickup tickets at Will Call should use the south gate. General Admission tickets will be available for sale at all three gates. Fans are also encouraged to bring along lawn chairs and blankets if they would prefer to watch the match from the grassy knoll at Restart Field. The weather looks great for a picnic at the Eagles game!
