Cleveland City Stars News Release

At the conclusion of the first week of the season, three City Stars players were recognized by the United Soccer League for their play during Saturday's 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

Making his first CCS start after playing collegiately at UCLA and last season for the USL-1 California Victory, goalkeeper Eric Reed responded with five saves while leading a fine defensive performance from the Stars.

Also making his debut for the Stars was the recently signed Randolph Jerome. The forward comes to the Stars from the Guyana National Team after playing last season in Trinidad. Jerome sparked the late offensive surge for Cleveland as he beat the Pittsburgh keeper with an acrobatic header in the 77th minute.

Rounding out the awards for Cleveland was Ian Leibbrandt. With the score knotted at 1-1, Leibbrandt subbed in during the 83rd minute and found the back of the net two minutes into extra time with a left footed strike. The late tally proved to be enough as the City Stars held on to the 2-1 victory.

Fans wishing to have their impact on the match can still vote for the "Man of the Match" at clevelandcitystars.com. Voting will continue until Saturday's match with Harrisburg.
