Charlotte Eagles News Release

Charlotte, NC - Charlotte drops first game in 2014 USL PRO season to Chicago Fire Reserves 3-2 at UNC-Charlotte.

The game opened slowly in the first ten minutes but the Eagles opened up the scoring in the 12th minute when Matt Gold cleared it out of zone to get it to Herrera who sent a cross over to Boggs who hammered it passed the Reserves Goalkeeper Kyle Reynish.

The Eagles were quick to strike again when less than three minutes after the opening score Jorge Herrera took a through ball from Drew Yates and slotted it home in the 15th minute.

The game's first 20 minutes did not go as expected with the Fire Reserves bringing so many players from their first team but in the 21st minute one of their first team regulars Juan Luis Anangono put the Reserves on the board as he slipped one past Charlotte goalkeeper Doug Herrick when he was out to intercept the shot.

Just before the half the Reserves struck again in the 45th minute to tie the game up at 2. The second half started off slow as well but the Fire changed that in the 54th minute when Anangono tallied his second goal of the night with an assist from Harry Shipp which ended up being the match winner.

Charlotte had a myriad of chances late in the game. In the 90th minute Tyrone Hall took a header which was denied yet again by Reserves Goalkeeper Kyle Reynish.

The Eagles take a six game road trip before returning to Queens Sports Complex on May 31st. Follow all of the Eagles away games LIVE at www.youtube.com/charlotteeaglessc and on Twitter at @CharlotteEagles.
