Charlotte Eagles News Release

Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte Eagles are pleased to announce the additions of three players to the 2014 roster. Goalkeepers Brock Duckworth and Kyle Renfro along with midfielder Tyrone Hall have all agreed to terms with the USL PRO club.

Duckworth is a native of Dallas, TX and returns for his second season in Charlotte. After backing up Goalkeeper of the Year Finalist Eric Reed last season, Duckworth will battle Doug Herrick and Kyle Renfro for the starting goalkeeper job this season. The former UNC-Wilmington Seahawk finished his career as the school's all time leader in goals against average with a 1.07 and is second in career shutouts with 24. Duckworth signed with the Wilmington Hammerheads in 2011 and went on to post an 11-5-2 record while recording four shutouts that season. In 2012 he was a member of eventual USL PRO Champion Charleston Battery. Duckworth signed with the Charlotte Eagles ahead of the 2013 season and provided valuable depth behind Reed. Duckworth also coaches at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC where he is in charge of the goalkeepers for both the men's and women's soccer programs.

Renfro signed his first professional contract with the Charlotte Eagles in early March of 2013. The Virginia Tech Hokie was named First Team All-ACC in 2013 after leading the league in saves with 88. Renfro recorded five shutouts including against #1 ranked UNC and #16 Clemson. His 14 career shutouts are good for 3rd all time in Virginia Tech History. Renfro will look to compete with Duckworth and Herrick for the #1 spot but will also provide solid depth at the goalkeeping position for Coach Steffens and the Charlotte Eagles.

Hall is a midfielder who most recently played for the Pennsylvania Roar of the MISL. The speedy winger should add some solid depth for Coach Steffens in the attacking end. Hall is a native of Baltimore, Maryland and played his youth soccer with the Bethesda Soccer Club which has produced such players as Freddy Adu, Bill Hamid, Joseph Gyau and Lester Dewee.

The Eagles open their season at Queens Sports Complex against the Dayton Dutch Lions on Friday April 4th at 7pm!
