Amarillo Venom News Release
Amarillo, TX 3/6/09 - With only three weeks remaining until the Amarillo Dusters kick off their fifth season in arenafootball2, the team will hit the gridiron Saturday during the first day of training camp.
Dusters Head Coach Ben Bennett and over 35 players will attend the full workout, to be held on the field at Bushland High School from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The full training camp roster will be released to the public and media Saturday as well, with several crucial signings to be revealed by the organization.
"I am excited to get back on the field and begin assessing the talent we've assembled in Amarillo," Bennett remarked. "I think everybody is amped up to get back on the field."
Players went through a series of pre-camp rituals Friday, including team physicals. When the 2009 incarnation of the Dusters begins preparation in Bushland Saturday, they will have just nine days to prepare for the team's first and only pre-season game. Amarillo will take on the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgs in a scrimmage at the Amarillo Civic Center on March 16-all tickets for the game are just $5, in celebration of the team's fifth year of af2 action in the Texas Panhandle.
The Dusters' regular season will begin March 27, with a re-match against the Yard Dawgz at the Civic Center.
