Oklahoma Warriors News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY - Daniel Duris stopped all 23 shots against and the Oklahoma Warriors scored two powerplay goals to beat the El Paso Rhinos 4-0 at Blazers Ice Centre Friday.
Oklahoma got on the board 4:16 into the first period when Joey DelGreco potted in a rebound from William Lawson-Body and Malte Hasselgren on the powerplay. The home team took a 10-6 shot advantage, and a 1-0 lead into the intermission.
The Warriors began their second-period scoring with another powerplay goal. Max Dronen entered the zone on the far side, and dropped to DelGreco. DelGreco then went back and forth with Garrett Horsager, who scored his seventh powerplay goal at 6:18. Before the end of the frame, Lawson-Body entered the zone down the middle and passed to Hasselgren, who skated up the near side. Hasselgren sent a cross-crease feed to Mikko Liukkonen to make a 3-0 game. Ninety-four seconds later, Will Brenner and Adam Smith passed to Kaden Nelson through center ice, and Nelson danced his way to the net to pot the 4-0 goal with just 1:46 left in the period.
Duris stopped nine shots in the third period for 23 in total, and secured his career-best fifth shutout of the season.
The Oklahoma Warriors and El Paso Rhinos will meet for the final time in the 2022-23 regular season 7:15 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at Blazers Ice Centre.
