Dupay ready to play ball

Brevard Blue Ducks News Release
Melbourne, Florida â It's beginning to look a lot like Gainesville in Melbourne. At least for the Brevard Blue Ducks.
The United States Basketball League team, about to enter its third season in April, announced the signing of former Florida Gator star guard, Teddy Dupay.
That brings to three the total number of ex-Gators signed by the Blue Ducks. Guard Brett Nelson and forward Brent Wright inked deals last month with the Ducks.
"We are extremely happy to have Teddy join our organization," beamed team owner, Mike Richman. "We wanted him last year, but he got injured playing in the CBA prior to the start of the USBL and was unavailable all season. He was worth the wait."
Dupay give the Ducks some formidable talent at the guard position, an area that the team was weak in last season.
A star for the University of Florida, Dupay left his mark on the team by battling a torn rotator cuff and leading the Gators to the championship game against Mississippi State in the 2000 NCAA tournament. The next season he performed another remarkable feat by coming back from surgery to repair a herniated disk to lead the Gators to a victory against Tennessee.
The 5-10 guard from Fort Myers, Florida is a former Florida Mr. Basketball who led the nation in scoring in 1997-98 with a whopping 41.5 PPG average, while becoming the all-time leading scorer in Florida prep history with 3744 points.
Since leaving UF in 2001, he's played for team Nike and in the pro leagues in Venezuela. He's also played in the CBA, ABA, and NBDL, while trying to catch the eyes of NBA scouts. He had just been named Player of the Week in the CBA with the Rockford Lightning while averaging 18 PPG/7.5APG in February of 2003 when he went down with an ACL injury.
"I am healthy and I am ready," remarked Dupay. "I'm really looking forward to playing for the Blue Ducks and showing the people in Brevard what I can do."
The Brevard Blue Ducks are a member of the United States Basketball League (USBL), which serves as a minor league to the NBA. In its 19-year existence, over 140 players have graduated from the USBL to the NBA. Stars such as Avery Johnson, Spud Webb, Manute Bol, Mugsy Bouges, Chris Childs, Anthony Mason and Darrell Armstrong all got their start in the USBL.
The team begins its season April 16th with a road game. Opening night at Florida Tech's Clemente Center is Thursday, April 22nd. Tickets are available now by visiting the Blue Ducks website at www.BrevardBlueDucks.com or calling (321) 751-BLUE (2583).
Duck Notes: The Blue Ducks annual open tryout camp is to be held this Sunday at the Clemente Center at Florida Tech in Melbourne. The camp runs from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The top prospects from Sunday will be invited back the next week to the Blue Ducks veteran's camp. The tryout camp is open to the public to watch.
