BRADENTON, FL. - It wasn't easy, but the Blue Jays secure the win over the Bradenton Marauders by the final score of 5-4 in game one of a three game weekend series at LECOM Park.
Ryan Noda gave the Blue Jays the lead in the top of the second with a solo homerun over the wall in left center. The D-Jays held that lead until the bottom of the fifth, when Dylan Busby tied the game with an RBI double down the left field line off RHP Maximo Castillo.
Dunedin reclaimed the lead in the top of the seventh. LHP Joe Jacques was summoned out of the Marauders' pen and gave up a lead-off walk to Ryan Noda. Chavez Young then smacked a double to left center allowing Noda to chug around third and score and make it a one run Dunedin lead. Logan Warmoth tried to check his swing on a fastball and rolled one to second for the infield single putting runners at the corners. Kacy Clemens grounded into the 6-4-3 twin killing that allowed Young to score to cap off the scoring and give Dunedin the lead after six and half played.
Bradenton chipped away and tied the game after plating a run in the bottom of the seventh and two in the eighth. Deon Stafford drilled a homerun to left and Daniel Amaral ripped a two run single to left center to score the tying runs in the home half of the eighth to tie the game at four all.
In the top of the ninth, Warmoth kick-started the rally with a double. Two batters later, Norberto Obeso grounded out to first and Cal Stevenson walked to put runners at the corners. Christopher Bec struck out on a pitch in the dirt that kicked away from the catcher Deon Strafford to the third base side. Warmoth sprinted home and scored to give the Blue Jays the lead back for what would be the final lead change in this contest.
RHP Dany Jimenez record the win in the ninth after he retired the side in order. The Blue Jays and Marauders play the second of three this weekend tomorrow night at 6:30. The game will be broadcast live on the Dunedin Blue Jays Baseball Network through TuneIn Radio. LHP Nick Allgeyer (4-3, 2.35) starts for the Blue Jays against RHP Hunter Stratton (5-0, 1.82) for Bradenton.
