Austin Turfcats News Release
Austin, TX - The Austin Turfcats head coach Chris Duliban is accustomed to making motivational speeches to his players, but on Friday, March 27, Duliban along with Vice President/General Manager Ronald Oswalt addressed students at Crockett Elementary and Miller Junior High in the San Marcos Independent School District.
At Crockett Elementary, Turfcats representatives were hosted by second grade teacher Linda Lopez. Lopez said, "It was great to have a former Dallas Cowboy and the Turfcats staff here for our kids."
Duliban read to the kids and Cheer Director Michelle Guidry held a mini cheer camp. The kids listened, read and danced the afternoon away.
Cheer Director Michelle Guidry said, "We love to be involved in the community and these kids were so excited about the Turfcats."
Similar to what Duliban tells his players, he discussed the importance of dedication and getting the most out of their school experience. He also talked about respect for their school and their peers.
Crockett second grade teacher Linda Lopez said, "We love to have visitors to our class and this was one of the best, it was a great reward for all the hard wok our kids do and we can't wait to get started on the Turfcats reading program to earn rewards."
Oswalt, Duliban and Guidry also signed autographs, posed with students for pictures, and fielded questions.
The Turfcats caravan then headed to Miller Junior High where they were greeted by Principal Susan Brown and spoke at a general assembly. Turfcats player Ryan Robinson and Cheerleaders Emilie Merck and Lisa Colwell also thrilled the crowd and spent time with area students and fielding questions about the indoor game.
