Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks News Release
All Star Game - July 14
It's that time of year again when the All Star Game takes to the mound. It will be held July 14 at Edinburg Baseball Stadium in Edinburg, Texas. Each club received one manager vote and one media vote. The pitchers and reserves were selected by East Division manager Dan Shwam of the Jackson Senators and West Division manager Steve Maddock of the San Angelo Colts.
Four East Division players are making their second straight appearance in the all-star game. Jim Essian, Jr., was a starting outfielder last year in Springfield/Ozark. Jorge Alvarez was the starting designated hitter while playing for Alexandria, Terence Green was the starting shortstop in Springfield/Ozark and Brandon Parker of Jackson also is a repeat honoree. One West Division player, Amarillo catcher Shawn Hughes, is making his second straight Central League All-Star Game appearance.
Sorensen Third
Springfield Ozark Mountain Duck, Nick Sorensen, is third in leading the league in stolen bases. This rookie from Kansas State University has stolen 17 bases, has a .265 batting average and 19 RBIs.
