Long Island Ducks News Release

(Central Islip, N.Y., May 6, 2013) - The Atlantic League champion Long Island Ducks today announced a "peanut-free day" at Bethpage Ballpark on Saturday, May 11, when the Ducks face the Somerset Patriots at 1:05 p.m in the opening game of a day-night doubleheader. There will be no sale of peanuts at the ballpark during the game, giving fans who struggle with peanut allergies the opportunity to attend a baseball game worry-free.

"Everyone knows the line from the song, 'Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,'" said Ducks Director of Group Sales John Wolff. "But for some of our biggest fans, peanut allergies make it very difficult for them to come to the ballpark. One of the Ducks' core values is making sure everybody has a chance to see a fun, affordable professional baseball game, and we're continuing that mission by hosting a peanut-free event."

Peanut allergies in young children are a growing concern in the United States. An estimated one in 125 children suffers from a peanut allergy, and the number of children affected by peanut allergies has nearly doubled in recent years. The Long Island Ducks are providing a special opportunity for families dealing with this issue to enjoy a ballgame at Bethpage Ballpark. Families interested in purchasing tickets for the May 11th peanut-free game can do so by visiting www.liducksgroups.com, and typing the password "Peanut".

The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. For further information, call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com .
