Duane Lewis Named Central Hockey League Commisioner

The Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced that Duane Lewis, who formerly served as Senior Vice President of Operations for the past eight seasons, has been named CHL Commissioner. Lewis had been serving as the interim leader for the CHL during the 2007-08 season after previous Commissioner Brad Treliving departed in July/2007 to become the Assistant General Manager with the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes.
"We are very fortunate and pleased to have Duane officially step into a role that he has been doing for the past season," said Rick Kozuback, President and CEO of Global Entertainment Corporation (AMEX: GEE), which operates the CHL through one of its subsidiary companies. "Duane has served our company exceedingly well over the past decade, and we are confident that his abilities and leadership will serve the Central Hockey League, our member teams, our partners and fans exceedingly well."
Lewis, 35, was named the CHL's Vice President of Operations in May/2001 overseeing all hockey operational issues and over the past year headed up the league's business and franchise services efforts as well. From July/1997 until May/2001, Lewis was the WPHL's Manager and then Director of Hockey Operations, joining the front office after playing for both Amarillo and New Mexico in the WPHL's inaugural 1996/97 season.
A 1996 graduate of Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario with an honors degree in Economics, Lewis his wife Kim and daughter Emerson reside in Phoenix.
