Manchester Wolves News Release

The arenafootball2 league office announced that Manchester Wolves' DS William "Roc" Haith was named the af2 ADT Defensive Player of the Week for his performance during last Friday's 55-47 victory on Brady Sullivan Field at the Verizon Wireless Arena over East Division rival WB-Scranton Pioneers during the first-round of the American Conference playoffs.

Haith (5-11, 190), a two-year af2 veteran, showed up with his "A" game to help lead his Wolves' defensively, while even adding a little spark offensively. The Washington, D.C. native had a game-high 8.5 total tackles, one pass breakup and an af2 post-season record-tying two interceptions defensively. Haith also returned a missed Pioneers' field goal 54-yards for a touchdown; his first-ever kick return for touchdown in his af2 career.

"You couldn't find a player more deserving of this award ," said Wolves Head Coach Ben Bennett. "WB/S went after him on 90% of their passing plays and Roc responded with his best game of the season. In addition, his kick return for a TD was the play that changed the game "

This is the sixth time that a Wolves' player has taken home an individual weekly league award this season, and third ADT Defensive Player of the Week award (Allistair Sebastien - Week 3, Brian Mance - Week 8). Jamaal Perry earned the "Cutters Catch of the Week" during Week 2, while Steve Gonzalez brought home the Schutt Offensive Player of the Week award for his individual effort during Week 4.

The Liberty College graduate currently has eight interceptions on the year along with 82.0 total tackles and 38 pass breakups (Tied for 1 st in the league). Haith set a new league and Wolves' franchise record last season with his 121.5 total tackles, along with setting an af2 record for most tackles in a game with 13.0. This is the second ADT Defensive Player of the Week Award of Haith's career, he was also honored by the league once in 2005 (Week 6).

"It's a blessing to be able to play football in Manchester." Haith said. "We as a team have a good opportunity to bring home a championship, and every game I must do my part by any means necessary."

The Wolves (10-7) travel to Germain Arena in Estero, Florida to take on Ben Bennett's old squad, the Florida Firecats (13-3), for a second-round American Conference battle this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Wolves' fans can listen to all the action live on WFEA 1370AM, or can even watch the action live thanks to af2tv.com by going to www.af2.com, however fans will have to pay $6.95 for the game.
