Drive First Round Playoff Schedule Set

Central Illinois Drive News Release


Bloomington, IL, 3/27/12 - The Central Division Champion Central Illinois Drive, presented by Sonic, will play the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Steamers in the opening round of the 2012 PBL playoffs.

According to the PBL the Drive clinched the top seed overall this past week and teams will play cross-divisional series in the opening round. The Drive are 18-1 on the season.

The round 1 schedule is as follows:

Game 1: 4/5/12 - Central Illinois Drive at Scranton Wilkes-Barre Steamers - 6:05 pm CDT

Game 2: 4/7/12 - Scranton Wilkes-Barre Steamers at Central Illinois Drive - 7:05 pm CDT

*Game 3: 4/9/12 - Scranton Wilkes-Barre Steamers at Central Illinois Drive - 7:05 pm CDT

The Steamers are 8-10 on the season.

They have already clinched the second seed in the Eastern Division behind Rochester. So far they are 5-5 at home and 3-5 on the road. Their leading scorer is a 6'1 guard named Vincent Simpson. Simpson averages 20.39 points per game (367 total points on the season). Simpson also leads the team with 40 three-point shots.

On the other side of the bracket the Rochester RazorSharks (17-1) will play the Sauk Valley Predators (13-6). The two will play at Sauk Valley on March 6 and then play games two and possible three at Rochester on March 7 and 9. The winner of the series will play the Drive or Steamers for the PBL Championship.
