Central Illinois Drive News Release

Bloomington, IL, 1/28/12 - The Central Illinois Drive, presented by Sonic, beat the Sauk Valley Predators for the second game in a row. The final score was 102-92. The Drive won 116-115 at Sauk Valley last Sunday in a battle of unbeaten teams. Tony Lewis led the Drive with 22 points and was followed by Perry Petty who had 19. The Drive were 9-21 from three-point range and shot 25 of 40 free throws. They were 53.13 from the floor.

The game had a lot of up and down the court action early on. For a good period of time it was only a one point game. Todd Peterson and Perry Petty made three point shots that led the Drive to a 30-20 lead. This was the quarter that eventually decided the game.

The Drive continued to play well in the 2nd quarter. Jemal Farmer had a couple of impressive dunks. The second was assisted by Matt Salley who was falling out of bounds on the pass. The Drive would eventually lead 51-40 as the half ended. Although the Drive appeared to play better that the Predators, Sauk Valley only scored one fewer point in the quarter.

The two teams continued to trade basket for basket in the 3rd. The Drive extended their lead to 14 points, the largest of the day. The Predators hung around trying to mount a comeback by keeping up on offense. Todd Peterson did his job trying to keep Central Illinois on top with a three-pointer to start the quarter. The Drive ended the quarter up 76-64.

In the 4th quarter the Predators tried to slow the game down, and it seemed to work as they outscored the Drive for most of the quarter. The Drive were up to the task however and even seemed fired up by the battle. They would hang on and eventually win 102-92.

Box score can be found he Drive will play the Diesels three games in a row starting Sunday at 3 pm. The Drive will be back in Indiana on Feb.
