Drew Suspended 5 Games

September 28, 2018 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release

BOUCHERVILLE, QC - The Director of Player Safety of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Éric Chouinard, suspended Hunter Drew of the Charlottetown Islanders for 5 games. The suspension was handed out following an incident that occurred on September 26th against the Saint John Sea Dogs.

Here is the rationale that led to the decision:

"The repeat offender Charlottetown player steps up to deliver a body check in the middle of the ice, blind side, that misses completely, hitting his opponent with a shoulder directly to the chin. The Saint John player suffered an injury."

The Director of Player Safety took this decision after having viewed videos of the incident, considered the officials report, spoken to the players and organizations involved and after consulting the Advisory Committee for disciplinary action.
