Dragons Partner with 1050 ESPN New York

The New York Dragons will be partnering up with 1050 ESPN New York for the 2008 season. All 16 Dragons games can be heard, starting with the season opener on March 3rd in Cleveland at 7:00pm which will be carried on WLIR 107.1FM and on the web at www.1050ESPNradio.com.
"We're excited to be bringing great live action of Dragons football to our audience, particularly those now listening on WLIR at 107.1 FM," said Tim McCarthy, President and General Manager of 1050 ESPN New York. "The fast-paced, high-scoring nature of Arena Football is popular with ESPN's TV audience and we're confident it will also resonate with our radio listeners."
The first game will air on WLIR at 107.1 FM, an affiliate of 1050 ESPN New York, with Peter Schwartz on the play-by-play and Wayne Morris as the analyst.
"Aligning ourselves with the powerful ESPN brand will enhance recognition and enable us to reach a larger market. This is an important next step for the Dragons as our fan base continues to grow," said Chris Dey, Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Operations.
The Dragons are the only Arena Football team of the tri-state area. Both ESPN and the Dragons are excited about the new partnership as they bring games to fans and expand through the ESPN audience.
"I think it's a great partnership, one that will give the Dragons more of the exposure we are looking for. We look forward to building this relationship along with the TV exposure from ESPN," said head coach Weylan Harding. "This is what we need to continue to reach the New York market and we are going to offer exciting games for the listeners."
The Dragons 2008 season kicks off this Monday, March 3rd at 7:00pm in Cleveland, with the home opener set for Sunday, March 9th at 3:00pm at Nassau Coliseum against the Kansas City Brigade.
