Dragons Look to Take Win in Second Home Game

June 5, 2008 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL)
San Francisco Dragons News Release

Burlingame (CA) - Last month the San Francisco Dragons (0-2) opened the 2008 season with a narrow defeat at the hands of the Chicago Machine. This Saturday evening, they get a chance for revenge when the Machine (1-2) travels to San Jose to play the Dragons at Spartan Stadium.

The Machine squeaked out a 10-9 win on May 18th at Toyota Park on a 3 goal performance by Kevin Leveille. The attackman leads the scoring threat for the Machine, who are 0-3 all-time on the road against the Dragons. Joining Leveille on the offensive side of the ball is his younger brother, recently drafted attackman Mike Leveille. The younger Leveille led Syracuse to the NCAA national title two weeks ago, and had 4 points (2 goals and 2 assists) last week against the Washington Bayhawks in his professional debut.

San Francisco is searching for their first win after losing at home last Saturday to the Los Angeles Riptide before a large opening day crowd at Spartan Stadium. Midfielder Tim Booth had his second consecutive 3 goal outing, and attackman Jake Byrne added a pair of markers in the Dragons 17 - 13 defeat. The Dragons also saw successful debuts of midfielder Sean Lindsay (acquired from LA in a draft day trade) and attackman Brendan Loftus (drafted in the 3rd round, 25th overall). Dragons captain Matt Vallone has been solid in goal and captain defenseman Eric Martin leads the team in groundballs with 10. Face-off specialist Greg Gurenlian has won 28 of 49 faceoff attempts for .571 percent.

Face-off is set for 7PM, Saturday June 7 at San Jose State University's Spartan Stadium. Tickets are available online at www.ticketmaster.com. Group tickets can be purchased by calling the Dragons information and ticket hotline at 1 (877) 4-MLL-TIX. For more information on the San Francisco Dragons, visit www.sfdragons.com.
